Hello OLMC families!
It’s hard to believe, but Labor Day weekend and the start of school are just about two weeks away. This summer, more than most, has certainly flown by.
As mentioned in previous e-mails, parents and students may stop by school this week, Monday through Thursday, from 9 AM to noon, to drop off supplies and take a quick peek into classrooms. Our uniform swap is set up in the gym, and is available during the same hours. If you plan on visiting, masks must be worn and the number of families in the building at any given time will be limited to ensure adequate social distancing.
This past Thursday, the governing body that oversees state athletic competitions announced that there should be no indoor sports scheduled this fall. Unfortunately, that means we will not have a girls’ volleyball season. Hopefully we will be able to resume our school athletic programs at the start of the new year. Please visit www.njsiaa.org to read the full statement.
As we all prepare to get back into school, remember that your children have not been in a traditional classroom setting since mid-March. Please start reminding them about their vocations as students. Practice wearing masks for extended periods of time. For younger students, practice getting dressed (tying shoes, zipping and buttoning clothing) and being self-sufficient with lunch items. Teachers will not be able to effectively open juice boxes, yogurt containers, etc., and maintain social distancing. Older students should begin weaning themselves from electronics.
We all know that there are many adjustments to be made as we begin the 2020-21 school year, but if we all work together in this task, our main objective- educating our students- will be much easier.
Be well!
Alice Malloy
