Good evening OLMC families,
It’s hard to imagine that this is the last weekend in September already. Thankfully, we are settling into a routine at school, and everyone is becoming a pro with our COVID-19 protocols. Morning temperature checks, daily health questions, masks, social distancing, and frequent hand washing are the new norm. Please remember to extend these precautions as best as possible when outside of school. We all play an important role in keeping our students, faculty, and staff healthy, and this will ensure we can continue in-person learning!
This week, students in grades 1 – 8 will be taking part in STAR assessments. The diocese has used this assessment tool in recent years with our primary grades, but felt it was a good time to give all students these tests. STAR assessments will be given three times during the school year, and the data provided by the results will help direct instruction so that students will learn in a manner best suited to their educational needs.
This Friday, October 2, is an early dismissal day for our monthly faculty meeting. After-care is available, but students must be registered in advance to participate. Friday is also our first “Spirit Day” of the year. Students who have purchased the new tie-dyed spirit shirt may wear that shirt with jeans on Friday. Students with other spirit shirts may wear those shirts in place of their regular school shirt on Friday. Dress code reminders will be sent out during the week.
As part of our faculty meeting on Friday afternoon, we will be setting up several Zoom meetings for junior high parents. As pleased as I was with our recent virtual Back-to-School night, I feel that there was not enough time for questions from junior high parents, and I apologize for that. Specific information will be sent home this week from homeroom teachers once a schedule is developed.
Have a good evening…be well!
